Enchanting European Songstresses: The Music of Edith Piaf, Amalia Rodrigues, and Maria Tanase
Though their musical styles were very different, Edith Piaf, Amalia Rodrigues, and Maria Tanase had one thing in common: their powerful, haunting voices defined an entire era in European music. In fact, Rodrigues has been referred to as the “Edith Piaf of Portugal,” while Tanase is often called “Romania’s Edith Piaf.”
Join singer Robin Kallsen and the Marianne Quartet (Jennie Mayer on guitar, Alicia DeJoie on violin, Rachael Contorer on bass, and Karin Kajita on piano) for an unforgettable evening of songs selected from the repertoires of these three incredible European songstresses!
