Lee Oskar & Friends

North City Bistro 1520 NE 177th St, Shoreline, WA

Lee Oskar is an internationally acclaimed harmonica virtuoso, composer, producer, manufacturer and lifelong musical explorer. He is renowned for his iconic role as a founding member, co-composer and lead harmonica player of the pioneering funk/jazz band that composed and recorded such hits as “Low Rider,”“Spill the Wine,” “Cisco Kid,” “The World is a Ghetto,” “Slippin’ into Darkness,” “Why Can’t Be Friends,” and many more chart-topping songs from 1969-1993.

Since then, Oskar and his original band mates from that era perform as the LowRider Band. Oskar also performs around the world with outstanding musicians from the Pacific Northwest, known as Lee Oskar & Friends, featuring his own new arrangements, innovative compositions and well-loved hit songs.

Artistically, Oskar has earned critical and popular acclaim for nearly four decades with his wide-ranging portfolio of unforgettable compositions evoking different moods, rhythms and genres. In the words of Seattle Times critic Misha Berson, “The harmonica man can really blow, but he can croon, too.”

Lee Oskar has earned ASCAP writing awards, and had his signature sound celebrated in Pitbull and Kesha's recent hit, "Timber," which was inspired by Oskar's harmonica contributions in the song "San Francisco Bay."

Lee Oskar established his own recording label, Dreams We Share™ in 2020. He proudly produces professional recording artists as well as his own music.

The first collection of Lee’s original works under Dreams We Share is his master work, “Never Forget”(January 2022), which serves as a culmination of his life’s work and an artistic memoir of his life.

Other recording projects with Lee Oskar & Friends featuring exciting orchestrations of his original compositions will be released in the near future.

Also under his Dreams We Share™ label, Oskar recently produced and released the much-anticipated album, “So Much Trouble,” featuring original songs written and performed by David Rotundo, a well-received Canadian artist and Lee Oskar Harmonicas Featured Artist (Dreams We Share; October 2020). This album has been highly acclaimed by critics and fans alike, performing consistently well on numerous blues charts since its release.

In addition, Oskar has brilliantly produced the work of other artists playing Oskar
compositions, including Takahiro Miyazaki from Japan, who Oskar considers to be one of the world’s greatest saxophone players

Oskar is proud to be a featured artist on globally recognized Playing for Change's
“Songs Around the World” album and the “Listen to the Music” project, in
collaboration with musicians around the world.

Through his company, Lee Oskar Harmonicas, he has created a special limited edition line of harmonica products exclusively available through Playing for Change to help support artists and musical education around the world.

New Rhythmatics New Years Eve Show

North City Bistro 1520 NE 177th St, Shoreline, WA

The New Rhythmatics, a Seattle-based 5-piece, has been playing a lively, danceable mix of vintage tunes around Pacific Northwest venues since 2014. Veterans of various local and national groups, their fluid repertoire flows around the earliest blues masters, 40’s big band, 50’ country, ’60’s pop gold, and '70's swamp soul. The band offers an incredible variety of great music played with energy and a high level of musicianship.

The New Rhythmatics’ debut CD garnered rave reviews in the April 2017 issue of the Washington Blues Society’s Bluesletter and the November 2017 issue of Heritage Music Review. Relax and groove or get up and move to our fresh take on familiar and soon-to-be familiar songs!

Thanks to Ray and Sharon for providing a great place for so many talented artists to do their thing. The music is always top notch, the food is incredible (Scallops w/ Risotto is my favorite), and it's always a great time.

We went to see some live music. There's a pricey cover charge but the music was really good. The food was excellent. Delicious pork loin with cream sauce. Good portion size of antipasto. Wonderful cheeses and salami. Very delicious seafood pasta. The prices were reasonable. We picked a great Italian Amorone wine off the shelf. The corkage was pretty steep, 12.00 given we had appetizers, full dinner and 20.00 cover. But the wine was fantastic and a fair price. Lots of wines from most important wine regions. The shelves are full and the prices fair. We'd definitely return. Service was very good especially given it was a full house. Small venue, quaint and enjoyable.

Close, tightly packed room, but comfortable. Soft lighting, exceptional wine selection. The wonderful, smooth vocalizations of Gail Pettis backed by her talented quartet. Hot and delicious shrimp fettacini paired with a perfect chardonnay. Fantastic. A winner all the way.

I almost hate to post as this is small and exquisite and I really don't want to share! However, everyone should have this experience; toothsome menu choices just right sized for visiting and music listening. And live music! First time out post covid and I felt like I'd been nervous system detoxed; hallelujah for establishements that are here for us all in the transition time. Thank you to the owners and the musicians!! And saftey is top notch with vaccine proof required; another thank you!
