Jazz, blues, swing and contemporary originals. The Unknowns are made up of five women who come at music from five different directions. When asked for their genre of music, the answer is “yes.” With backgrounds in jazz, gypsy jazz, experimental jazz, soul, classical and theater, the Unknowns bring together all different types of music with a common thread of joyful entertainment. Combining three-part harmony, cheeky lyrics, and serious musicianship of the rhythm section, they make listeners keep coming back for more. Playing fun covers like Imelda May’s Smotherin’ Me and Caro Emerald’s Liquid Lunch, and clever originals like Will You Still Love Me, Let Go, and Ron, The Unknowns have become well loved for making music that is approachable, witty, and downright fun.
