With a beautifully smooth and soulful voice, Pacific Northwest Jazz, Folk & Blues vocal artist Jean Lenke paints music in full color, with broad strokes. As bandleader her approach to music is free spirited, crossing boundaries and mixing genres, celebrating all the shades and hues life brings us here in the great Pacific Northwest! Whether performing as an intimate acoustic Duo or Trio, with her 6-piece “Jean Therapy West Band”, Jean’s fresh approach to Jazz is influenced by an eclectic mix of standards, mid-century Folk and Fusion ~ musical genres that span a lifetime, with universal appeal.
Jean’s 2019 debut album “Restless”, recorded in Philadelphia with musicians Tom Lawton, piano & organ, Fostina Dixon, saxophone; Kevin Hanson, guitar, Jim Stager, bass & Erik Johnson, drums, is a journey through midlife’s ups and downs – stories of restlessness and resilience, feelings beautifully expressed, and then released into the wild!
2023 will bring the release of a brand new project, “The Sea, The Sky”, celebrating life in Jean’s new home on the magnificent the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State and honoring some of her most beloved Folk & Jazz artists Joni Mitchel, Abbey Lincoln, Sandy Denny, Ritchie Havens, Marian McPartland, Nina Simone and others – in Jazz-Folk format. Jean will be sharing a few of the songs on that album at the concert.
Guitarist Dan Schwindt and bassist Keith Lowe will accompany.
