An Evening with Electric Bonsai Band (it’s not electric . . . it’s not a band!) Plus Special Super Secret Surprise Guest Trio
April 15 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm$15.00
THE NEW YORK TIMES: “Ratshin writes songs that are intriguing mixtures of social commentary and playful theatrics.”
Electric Bonsai Band is neither electric nor a band…it’s actually singer/songwriter Andrew Ratshin, and his acoustic guitar. Best known as a member of, and principal songwriter for, the group Uncle Bonsai, Andrew has released five solo albums of original material, been included on a number of compilation projects, and will be recording this show for an upcoming live release. Come be part of the event . . . and the recording! BUT THAT’S NOT ALL . . . .
. . . NOT “ANNOUNCED” ‘CAUSE IT’S A SECRET! After Andrew does the first set, he’s planning on inviting some friends to join him for the second half. Now, we’re not saying that the whole second set will be a trio called Uncle Bonsai that recently had to cancel its warm-up show before a big concert on April 23rd but, yeah, that’s what it is. Andrew will do a solo set and then, for the first time at an Electric Bonsai Band concert, he will turn the concert over to this super secret group that you all know and that he’s also part of . . . shh! Like we said, it’s a secret . . but it is a chance to hear some more of the “Seven Sins, Seven Wonders, Seven Dwarfs” song cycle before that trio performs the following week!
Now, back to Electric Bonsai Band! With the release of his debut recording, I Am Joe’s Eyes, Andrew began headlining at clubs and festivals across North America; with the release of a live cassette, 20 Seconds Of Pleasure (a collection of 20-second and 40-second songs) and the critically acclaimed, But I’m Happy Now, Andrew established himself as “one of the premier songwriters of his generation” (The Maverick Report). The release of Lounging In The Belly Of The Beast had Sing Out magazine proclaiming Andrew “an absolute original” and say that “there’s more than enough brilliance here to entice and seduce open minded listeners who appreciate exceptionally well written songs.”
DIRTY LINEN: “Like the finest artists, Ratshin captures with a few dark lines what others can’t find with the whole 64-piece box of Crayolas.”
